Paramos

without plastic

The paramos are ecosystems of vital importance because furthermore to being a great source of freshwater, they capture large amounts of carbon and therefore help diminish the effects of climate change.

Unfortunately, this ecosystem suffers great environmental threats such as agricultural expansion, extensive use of livestock, mining, and plastic pollution, to name a few.

To help curb plastic pollution, I consider essential to interact with local communities through environmental citizen projects to exchange knowledge that can contribute to the conservation of the paramos in Ecuador.
